Peter Jöback is returning to the Majestic Theatre once more.

Jöback, a Swedish recording artist and former Phantom, will take on the lead role in “The Phantom of the Opera” ahead of the show’s 30th anniversary. He begins the role on Jan. 15 and will play it through March 31.

Jöback played the role of the Phantom on Broadway in 2013 and was a replacement “Chris” in the original West End production of “Miss Saigon.”

He takes over the role from James Barbour, who has played the part since February 2015\. Barbour’s last performance will be Dec. 2\. Laird Mackintosh, who currently plays “Monsieur André,” will take over the role in the weeks between.

“Phantom of the Opera,” which has been the longest-running show on Broadway for more than a decade, announced that it will be having its 30th anniversary celebration on Jan. 24, two days ahead of its actual anniversary date. More details on the anniversary are to come, according to the press release.
