# New Yorkers ordered to stay at home through April 15

On Sunday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo extended his stay-at-home order in New York through “at least” April 15\. 

Under the decision, the non-essential workforce, which would include theater workers, in New York must work from home until that date. This would appear to extend the current Broadway closures at least two days past the current re-opening date.

Cuomo said in a press conference that he will “re-evaluate” the timeline every two weeks.

The Broadway League initially said theaters would re-open on April 13\. However, in a [recent email](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/26/broadway-reopening-date-remains-uncertain-league-says/?ref=broadwaynews.com) to members, League President Charlotte St. Martin said the timeline was “uncertain” and depended on final approval from Cuomo.
