# ‘Network,’ starring Bryan Cranston, will transfer to Broadway this fall

The National Theatre Production of “Network,” starring Bryan Cranston, is transferring to the Cort Theatre this fall.

The play, adapted by Lee Hall and based on the 1976 film by Paddy Chayefsky, is directed by Ivo van Hove. “Network” will play a limited 18-week engagement beginning Nov. 10, 2018, with an official opening on Dec. 6.

The Broadway run is produced by David Binder, the National Theatre, Patrick Myles, David Luff, Ros Povey and Lee Menzies.

“We are excited as hell to bring Ivo van Hove’s brilliantly innovative and electrifying production of ‘Network’ to Broadway this fall,” the producers said in a statement.

Cranston won an Olivier Award for his West End performance in “Network,” which ran at the National Theatre from Nov. 4, 2017 through March 24, 2018.

“Network” follows anchorman Howard Beale, played by Cranston, who breaks down during a live broadcast at his struggling cable network. This leads to a surge in ratings and newfound fame for Beale.

Additional casting for Broadway will be announced in the near future.

The play will feature scenic and lighting design by Jan Versweyveld, video design by Tal Yarden, costume design by An D’Huys and music and sound by Eric Sleichim.

The Cort Theatre had been previously been booked for “The Prom” this fall, but the musical announced in July that[ it was moving to the Longacre Theatre](https://broadwaynews.com/2018/07/13/the-prom-changes-venues-to-open-at-the-longacre-theatre/?ref=broadwaynews.com) instead.
