A musical stage adaptation of “Mystic Pizza,” featuring the songs of Melissa Etheridge, is in development.

The adaptation of the 1988 film will feature a book by Gordon Greenberg, the director and co-book writer of “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn,” and Sas Goldberg, who recently starred in “Significant Other” on Broadway. Greenberg will also direct the musical.

Etheridge is a two-time Grammy Award winner and an Academy Award winner for her song “I Need to Wake Up.”

Lively McCabe Entertainment [is developing the musical](https://broadwaynews.com/2018/07/24/araca-group-exec-launches-lively-mccabe-entertainment/?ref=broadwaynews.com). The musical will be published and licensed by the [newly formed Concord Theatricals](https://broadwaynews.com/2018/12/17/concord-music-acquires-samuel-french-to-form-large-theatrical-licensing-company/?ref=broadwaynews.com).

“Mystic Pizza” is “currently in development,” according to the press release, and will announce the rest of the creative team and production plans at a later date.
