Multiple Broadway musicals hit new box office highs last week.

For the week ending July 31, the 24 shows on Broadway grossed $29,502,148 – a decrease of less than $30,000 from the previous week. Attendance was maintained at 89% capacity.  

The top three highest-grossing shows last week were “The Music Man, “Hamilton” and “The Lion King.”

Three shows played to 100% capacity or greater, including “Company,” “Hamilton” and “MJ.”

Of the 24 productions running last week, only six played to less than 80% capacity. Those include “Beetlejuice,” “Chicago,” “Funny Girl,” “Mr. Saturday Night,” “POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive” and “The Kite Runner.”

“Company” played its final performance on Sunday. In its final week on Broadway, the Tony-winning revival also had its best week at the box office, grossing $1,194,544.49 and playing to 102% capacity.

Also on Sunday, Beanie Feldstein played her final performance as Fanny Brice in the ongoing revival of “Funny Girl.” The musical grossed $765,670.31 and played to 71% capacity.

Following a week of only seven performances due to an illness-related cancellation, “MJ” grossed $1,732,995.00 – a 13% increase from last week – in its highest-grossing week.

Also having its best week yet at the box office – following [news of an extension through October](https://broadwaynews.com/2022/07/27/into-the-woods-revival-extends-broadway-run/?ref=broadwaynews.com) – was “Into the Woods.” The musical grossed a new high of $1,941,025.80 and played to 99% capacity.

In its first full 8 performance week post-opening night, “The Kite Runner” grossed $346,500.40, an increase of 25%. Attendance at the new play decreased, with houses only packed to 74% capacity.
