# ‘MJ’ to launch North American tour in 2023

“MJ,” the Michael Jackson musical, will embark on a multi-year North American tour in 2023.

The tour will launch in Chicago at the James M. Nederlander Theatre on July 15, 2023 and later play Charlotte, N.C. from Sept. 26 through Oct. 8, 2023\. Additional tour destinations, which include 17 major cities in the first two years, and casting details will be announced at a later date.

“MJ” [opened at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/05/11/mj-will-begin-broadway-performances-on-dec-6/?ref=broadwaynews.com) in February 2022\. Featuring a book by Lynn Nottage and direction and choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, “MJ” recounts Jackson’s life and career story leading up to his 1992 Dangerous world tour.

“MJ” is produced by Lia Vollack, as well as John Branca and John McClain, the executors of Jackson’s estate.
