David Adjmi appeared on Stephen J. Dubner’s Freakonomics podcast to discuss the [creation](https://www.broadwaynews.com/how-writing-about-recording-a-single-album-became-an-epic-play-that-cannot-be-contained/) of the [2024 Best Play Tony Award winner](https://www.broadwaynews.com/2024-tony-award-winners-are-announced/), “Stereophonic,” as well as its path to the Main Stem and the duo’s views on the current health of the industry.

“Stereophonic” [opened](https://www.broadwaynews.com/the-broadway-review-stereophonic-is-a-strum-of-genius/) on April 19 at the John Golden Theatre. The [twice-extended](https://www.broadwaynews.com/stereophonic-receives-second-extension/) production will play a limited run through Jan. 5, 2025\. The [Daniel Aukin](https://www.broadwaynews.com/5-minutes-with-a-tony-nominee-stereophonics-daniel-aukin/)\-helmed play, which features original music by Will Butler, was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, a record for a straight play. In addition to the award for Best Play, the production won four other Tonys, including one for Aukin.
