# ‘Lackawanna Blues’ delays Broadway press opening

The opening of “Lackawanna Blues” has been pushed by another week, Manhattan Theatre Club announced Monday.

The new press opening has been scheduled for Oct. 7, as star Ruben Santiago-Hudson continues to recover from a back injury. The injury, which [was announced](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/09/24/lackawanna-blues-on-broadway-cancels-weekend-performances-after-injury/?ref=broadwaynews.com) Friday, led to the cancellation of performances this past weekend and had initially pushed the opening date to Oct. 30.

“Lackawanna Blues” is written, performed [and directed](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/11/16/mtc-announces-fall-broadway-premiere-of-lackawanna-blues-return-to-live-theater/?ref=broadwaynews.com) by Santiago-Hudson. The show [began performances](https://build.broadwaynews.com/2021/05/17/lackawanna-blues-will-begin-broadway-performances-sept-14/?ref=broadwaynews.com) at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Sept. 14.
