On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo extended the closure of non-essential businesses in New York to April 29.

The new date would keep Broadway theaters closed beyond the current reopening date of April 13\. Cuomo [had previously](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/29/new-yorkers-ordered-to-stay-at-home-through-april-15/?ref=broadwaynews.com) extended restrictions, which require non-essential businesses to close in-office personnel functions, to April 15.

The Broadway League said it had “no comment at this time” on how this would affect the timeline of theater closures. However, the League is expected to announce a new reopening date this week.

The Society of London Theatre said Monday that West End theaters will remain closed through May 31.
