# "Funny Girl" falters without leads as box office dips

"Funny Girl" was without stars Lea Michele and Ramin Karimloo last week, taking a toll on the show's box office. Both leads were out on scheduled vacations, according to a representative for the production. Featured player Tovah Feldshuh was also out over the weekend, missing both Saturday performances and the Sunday matinee. Overall, the production saw a staggering 50% decrease at the box office, grossing $933,728\. The production played to 84% capacity, down 11%.

For the week ending Feb. 26, the 23 shows running grossed $25,832,430, a 4% decrease from the previous week. Capacity was down 0.67%, with all productions playing to 94%.

"The Phantom of the Opera," "Hamilton" and "The Lion King" were the three highest-grossing productions. Seventeen productions played to at least 95% capacity; two played to less than 80%.

"Chicago" continues to play to nearly sold-out crowds as Jinkx Monsoon, who [recently announced a two-week extension](https://broadwaynews.com/2023/02/27/jinkx-monsoon-extends-stint-in-chicago/?ref=broadwaynews.com), continues in the role of Matron "Mama" Morton. The long-running musical grossed $904,577, an increase of 0.86%, and played to 100% capacity, up 0.43%.

"Pictures From Home" struggled last week as the new play grossed $369,118, a decrease of 16%. Capacity fell 22%, with the production playing to just 64%.

"A Beautiful Noise" also saw gross and attendance dips. The new musical earned $883,733, down 14%, and played to 72% capacity, a decrease of 12%.

Another new musical, "Some Like It Hot," saw a 9% dip at the box office, grossing $829,379\. The production played to 77%, down 0.64%.

"Parade" and "Sweeney Todd" both began previews last week. "A Doll's House" and "Bad Cinderella" remained in previews.
