# ‘Eureka Day’ on Broadway cancels Jan. 14 performance due to illness

The Jan. 14 performance of the new comedy “Eureka Day” has been canceled. A press representative for the production confirmed cancellation of the evening performance due to a non-COVID-related illness. The play’s run is expected to resume on Jan. 15 at 2:00 p.m.

Written by Jonathan Spector and directed by Anna D. Shapiro, “Eureka Day” follows the challenges faced by an executive committee of a private elementary school in California, who [must examine their liberal vaccine policy](https://www.broadwaynews.com/can-we-talk-about-eureka-days-zoom-scene/) following an outbreak of mumps. The play’s current [cast includes](https://www.broadwaynews.com/amber-gray-jessica-hecht-bill-irwin-and-more-will-lead-eureka-day-on-broadway-full-casting-announced/) Jessica Hecht, Amber Gray, Bill Irwin, Thomas Middleditch, [Chelsea Yakura-Kurtz](https://www.broadwaynews.com/chelsea-yakura-kurtz-sets-broadway-debut-in-eureka-day/) and Eboni Flowers.

The comedy began previews on Nov. 25 and [opened](https://www.broadwaynews.com/eureka-day-satire-takes-well-honed-jabs-at-liberalism-2/) on Dec. 16 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The production recently received its [second extension](https://www.broadwaynews.com/eureka-day-on-broadway-receives-second-extension/), now set to run through Feb. 16.

“Eureka Day” is produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, under the leadership of artistic director [Lynne Meadow](https://www.broadwaynews.com/lynne-meadow-to-be-honored-at-state-dinner/) and executive director [Chris Jennings](https://www.broadwaynews.com/manhattan-theatre-club-names-chris-jennings-as-new-executive-director/), by special arrangement with Sonia Friedman Productions, Wagner Johnson Productions and Seaview.
