# ‘Diana’ musical to play Broadway this spring

“Diana,” a musical about the life of the late Lady Diana Spencer, is coming to Broadway this spring.

The musical will play the Longacre Theatre beginning March 2, 2020, with an opening night set for March 31\. This is the second musical to announce a run at the Longacre Theatre this season, after the [announcement of “Lightning Thief”](https://broadwaynews.com/2019/08/12/the-lightning-thief-announces-broadway-run/?ref=broadwaynews.com) taking up residence in the fall.

“Diana” comes to Broadway after making its world premiere earlier this year at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. The musical is directed by Christopher Ashley, the director of “Come From Away” and “Escape to Margaritaville,” and features a book and score by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan, who wrote “Memphis.” Kelly Devine, who also worked on the two shows with Ashley, is the choreographer.

Jeanna de Waal and Roe Hartrampf will resume their roles as Diana and Prince Charles, respectively. De Waal previously appeared in “Kinky Boots” and “American Idiot” on Broadway. This is Hartrampf’s Broadway debut.

Erin Davie will reprise her role as Camilla Parker Bowles and Judy Kaye will reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth.

Produced by Grove Entertainment, Frank Marshall and the Araca Group, the musical has a capitalization for up to $17.575 million, according to a document filed with the Securities and Exchange commission.

The creative team includes scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Tony Award-nominee Gareth Owen.
