The Tony Award-winning revival of “Chicago” is set to premiere in India next year. The musical will play from Jan. 21-31, 2027, at the Grand Theatre at Mumbai’s Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). The Mumbai staging is produced in association with Barry and Fran Weissler (who also produce “Chicago” on Broadway) and David Ian for global theater production company Crossroads Live.

Established in 2023, [NMACC has become an international home](https://gordoncox.substack.com/p/india-musical-theater-market) for numerous Broadway and West End productions. The center has previously presented sit-down engagements of “Wicked,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Matilda” and more.

The revival of “Chicago” opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Nov. 14, 1996; it later transferred to the Shubert Theatre in 1997, then to the Ambassador Theatre in 2003, where it continues to run. Featuring a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb, the production was nominated for eight Tonys, winning six, including Best Revival of a Musical.

In addition to its Broadway staging and the upcoming Mumbai premiere, “Chicago” can be seen in Dubai this December and on tour in the U.K. and Ireland next year.
