Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton and Tony Yazbeck will star in the new Broadway musical “Flying Over Sunset” this spring.

Presented by Lincoln Center Theater, the new musical features a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Michael Korie. It begins previews at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on March 12, 2020, with an opening night set for April 16, 2020.

“Flying Over Sunset” is a fictional piece inspired by the lives of “Brave New World” author Aldous Huxley, played by Hadden-Paton; playwright, diplomat and congresswoman Clare Boothe Luce, played by Cusack, and film star Cary Grant, played Yazbeck, as they all experiment with the drug LSD.

The musical arrives to the Lincoln Center after a series of staged readings in 2015 and 2016.

The creative team pairs up two Tony-Award and Pulitzer Prize winners, Lapine for “Sunday in the Park with George” and Kitt for “Next to Normal.” Korie’s work has previously appeared on Broadway in “War Paint” and “Grey Gardens.”

Hadden-Paton returns to the Lincoln Center after starring in the recent revival of “My Fair Lady.” Cusack starred in “Bright Star” on Broadway in 2016 and Yazbeck starred in 2014 revival of “On the Town.”

Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The show will be choreographed by Michelle Dorrance, a contemporary tap dance artist who will be making her theatrical and Broadway debut with this show.

The creative team includes set design by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Toni-Leslie James, lighting by Bradley King, sound by Dan Moses Schreier and projections by Jeff Sugg.

It is produced in association with Jack Shear.
