# Broadway sees upward trend in capacity, grosses

Broadway attendance rebounded last week as capacity ticked up to 81%, the highest level on record since the week of Dec. 16.

The industry grossed $16.9 million across all 19 productions in the week ended Feb. 6\. This is [close to $2 million](https://broadwaynews.com/2022/02/01/broadway-grosses-fall-to-15-million-amid-winter-downturn/?ref=broadwaynews.com) more than in the previous week, which had the same number of productions running.

The uptick comes as the industry recovers from the Omicron surge, which led to the cancellation of many performances, due to COVID-19 cases detected within companies, and [closed several productions](https://broadwaynews.com/category/topic/closing/?ref=broadwaynews.com) in December and early January. In New York City, average case rates [have dropped more](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/new-york-city-new-york-covid-cases.html?ref=broadwaynews.com) than 77% from two weeks ago.

The average ticket price was $110.84, a $2 increase from the prior week. The industry is still in the midst of Broadway week, which offers discounted tickets to many shows. The promotion has been extended through Feb. 27.
