Lincoln Center Theater has moved its Broadway production of “Flying Over Sunset” to spring 2021.

The new musical, as well as Lynn Nottage’s opera “Intimate Apparel,” were previously set to premiere in the fall, after being rescheduled from the spring due to the closure of theaters. Both are now set to open in the spring, due to the continuing impact of COVID-19 and for the safety of the staff and artists, according to Lincoln Center Theater.

The Broadway League is expected to announce the closure of all Broadway shows [through at least](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/06/22/broadway-shows-expected-to-remain-closed-through-early-january/?ref=broadwaynews.com) Jan. 3.

“Flying Over Sunset,” features a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Michael Korie. It was originally scheduled to begin previews on March 12, the day of the initial Broadway shutdown, and open on April 16\. Exact dates for the spring opening have not yet been announced.

“Intimate Apparel,” which features music by Ricky Ian Gordon, libretto by Nottage and direction by Bartlett Sher, began previews on Feb. 27 and was scheduled to open on March 23.

Lincoln Center Theater also plans to produce an additional LCT3 production in spring 2021 and a production in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in summer 2021.
