# Broadway grosses hit $30.5 million as industry nears holidays

Broadway grosses reached $30.5 million in the week ended Dec. 12, as the industry holds on to seasonal highs.

Last week’s total marks the second highest gross recorded on Broadway this season, after the $32.5 million grossed in the [Thanksgiving week ended](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/11/30/broadway-posts-record-grosses-during-thanksgiving-week/?ref=broadwaynews.com) Nov. 28\. The 32 shows running last week played at a capacity of 85%.

The productions commanded an average ticket price of $126.91, the second highest ticket price recorded this season. The Broadway League began reporting grosses, which are released as a collective total, rather than segmented by show, starting with the week ended Oct. 24.

Productions played 235 performances last week, as [“Freestyle Love Supreme”](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/12/11/freestyle-love-supreme-cancels-broadway-performances-due-to-covid-19-cases/?ref=broadwaynews.com) and [“Mrs. Doubtfire”](https://broadwaynews.com/2021/12/12/mrs-doubtfire-cancels-sunday-performances-due-to-covid-19-cases/?ref=broadwaynews.com) both canceled shows due to the discovery of COVID-19 breakthrough cases.

Two more shows were added to the industry roster, as “MJ” began previews Dec. 6 and “Dear Evan Hansen” resumed performances Dec. 11\. “Dear Evan Hansen” is the last show to reopen this year.
