# Broadway box office sees a February decline

Broadway grosses have seen a slide with the start of February.

For the week ending Feb. 5, the 22 shows on Broadway grossed $23,518,702, a decrease of 9%. Capacity was at 93%, a 2% fall from the previous week.

“The Phantom of the Opera” was the highest-grossing show and the only one to earn above $2 million. “Funny Girl” and “Hamilton” round out the top three. A dozen productions grossed at least $1 million.

Twelve productions played to at least 95% capacity, while only three played to less than 80%.

In the final week of its return engagement, “Take Me Out” grossed $731,708, a 16% increase from the prior week. The revival played to 94% capacity.

“Phantom” continues to draw audiences as it nears the end of its history-making Broadway run. The musical grossed $2,616,850, up 5%, and played to 100% capacity.

The only other production to report a gross increase last week was “Between Riverside and Crazy.” The play earned $382,452, an increase of 4%, and played to 96% capacity.

“Take Me Out” closed on Feb. 5\. “Pictures From Home” began previews on Jan. 13 at Studio 54; the new play officially will open on Feb. 9\. Broadway Week began on Jan. 17 and continues through Feb. 12.
