# Broadway actor Aaron Tveit tests positive for COVID-19

Aaron Tveit, who stars in the Broadway musical “Moulin Rouge!” said Monday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

“I’ve been in quarantine since Broadway shows shut down on Thursday, March 12th, and i’m feeling much better,” Tveit [said on](https://www.instagram.com/p/B-FHsJCngXm/?igshid=hpzoix2vz9sm&ref=broadwaynews.com) Instagram.

Tveit is the first Broadway star to publicly speak out about testing positive for the virus. Actor Gavin Creel, who was starring in “Waitress” on the West End, said on [the Actors Fund live stream](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sePAgItK9sM&feature=emb%5Flogo&ref=broadwaynews.com) Sunday that he was “pretty sure” he had coronavirus and that other members of the musical had tested positive.

A Broadway usher [was previously reported](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/11/broadway-usher-tests-positive-for-coronavirus-officials-confirm/?ref=broadwaynews.com) to test positive for COVID-19.

Tveit said he was tested last Monday and received the results today. He described his symptoms as “very mild,” with a cold and no fever and a loss of taste and smell.

“Moulin Rouge!” [canceled its matinee](https://broadwaynews.com/2020/03/12/moulin-rouge-cancels-thursday-performances/?ref=broadwaynews.com) on March 12, a few hours before Broadway theaters were ordered to close.
