# Andrew Rannells will no longer appear in Broadway’s ‘Tammy Faye’ musical

Tony Award-nominated actor Andrew Rannells will no longer be reprising his turn as Jim Bakker in the [Broadway transfer](https://www.broadwaynews.com/tammy-faye-musical-to-play-palace-theatre-katie-brayben-and-andrew-rannells-will-reprise-london-performances-on-broadway/) of “Tammy Faye,” press representatives for the production have confirmed.

During [an interview](https://www.instagram.com/p/C8TEGjpuKik/?utm%5Fsource=ig%5Fembed&utm%5Fcampaign=embed%5Fvideo%5Fwatch%5Fagain) on the red carpet of the 2024 Tony Awards, Rannells shared that due to contract disputes, he has pulled out of the Main Stem staging of the new musical. Rannells was [Olivier Award-nominated](https://www.broadwaynews.com/prima-facie-oklahoma-win-2023-olivier-awards/) for his performance in the musical’s West End mounting.

Through a press representative, the production issued a statement: “Andrew was part of the original cast of the musical production in London and we understand that he will not continue on to Broadway. We will announce casting news shortly.”

Rupert Goold is the director of “Tammy Faye,” which features a book by James Graham, music by Elton John and lyrics by Jake Shears. The Broadway production is scheduled to begin previews on Oct. 19 and open on Nov. 14 at the Palace Theatre. Headlining the musical in the title role will be Katie Brayben, who won an Olivier Award for her performance.
