# Allison Blackwell joins Broadway’s ‘Ragtime’ revival

Allison Blackwell has joined the company of “Ragtime.” The Broadway veteran will take on the role of Sarah’s Friend in the [previously announced](https://www.broadwaynews.com/ragtime-starring-caissie-levy-joshua-henry-and-brandon-uranowitz-is-coming-to-broadway/) revival, set to begin previews on Sept. 25 and open on Oct. 16 at Lincoln Center Theater’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. Blackwell is replacing the [previously announced](https://www.broadwaynews.com/casting-is-complete-for-the-broadway-revival-of-ragtime/) Charity Angél Dawson, who has [exited the production](https://www.instagram.com/p/DNv3HZHwnhG/?ref=broadwaynews.com) due to an injury.

Blackwell is a Main Stem alum most recently seen onstage in “New York, New York.” Her other Broadway credits include “Pretty Woman: The Musical,” “A Night with Janis Joplin,” “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” and “The Lion King.” 

Lear deBessonet, Lincoln Center Theater’s [new artistic director](https://www.broadwaynews.com/lear-debessonet-named-artistic-director-of-lincoln-center-theater/), is at the helm of the “Ragtime” revival, which began under her prior artistic directorship with New York City Center. Broadway’s “Ragtime” is scheduled to play a limited engagement through January 4, 2026.
